Thermal Reduction

Controlled Heat. Clean Output. Maximum Recovery.

Thermal reduction is a powerful method that uses carefully applied heat to break down complex materials into simpler forms, while safely capturing precious metals within each batch. At Noble Metal Services, we have reimagined this process with advanced technology, strict environmental safeguards and programable techniques to ensure maximum metal recovery.

In addition to our experienced operators, our systems are software-governed, which allows us to customize the processing of each lot based upon the specific material profile.

Materials are processed through controlled heating cycles designed to remove non-value materials without compromising precious metal content. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) are destroyed, and emissions are reduced to regulated levels, ensuring safe, compliant operations. Rather than exposing material to uncontrolled high heat, we use carefully managed temperature profiles to ensure a consistent and repeatable outcome.

Where Thermal Reduction Adds Value

Thermal reduction is most effective for materials that contain a mix of precious metal and non-precious metal components. This includes production residues such as wipes, filters, floor sweeps, resins, production scrap and other contaminated materials where valuable metals are present but not immediately accessible. By removing organics and reducing variability, this process transforms inconsistent inputs and prepares material to proceed to crush and blend process.

Our Process

  1. Preparation & Sorting: Non-precious items (cardboard, skids, plastics, base metals) are responsibly recycled before incineration to save energy and improve efficiency.
  2. Thermal Reduction: Materials are exposed to controlled radiant heat in our furnaces, reducing organics and concentrating precious metals.
  3. Emission Controls: Off-gases are treated in a primary chamber, then a secondary after-burner reaching 1800°F to destroy VOCs.
  4. Monitoring & Safety: Daily safety checks, weekly maintenance, and EPA/DEM compliance ensure operations remain safe and consistent.
  5. Maximum Metal Recovery: State-of-the-art equipment combined with well-trained, experienced operators produces optimal results.

Environmental Controls

Sustainability is central to Noble’s approach. We:

  • Recycle non-precious material before processing
  • Neutralize gases in multi-stage furnace systems
  • Operate within strict Rhode Island DEM and EPA standards
  • Run ongoing emissions monitoring to ensure clean output

By pairing state-of-the-art pollution control with responsible recycling, we ensure the precious metals you recover never come at the expense of the environment.
